GOP In Deep Trouble, Ron Paul Looking Good

Ryan W. McMaken
Lew Rockwell Blog
Nov 7, 2012

Romney lost today to a guy who is overseeing a horrible economy, prosecuting unpopular wars, and who can barely string 5 words together without a teleprompter. This was the best the Republican Party can do. Not only are the Republicans evil, they’re evil and contemptible losers, which is far worse.

The biggest losers tonight are of course people who value peace and freedom, but we would have also lost if Romney won. The GOP is right up there in the loser category, however. The GOP lost seats in the Senate, and did little to improve its position in the House. It has served up two ridiculously bad nominees in a row, claiming “electability” and then going down in flames.

Rand Paul certainly came out of this looking very bad as well. He fell in line behind the party masters, banking on some advantage to be gained through an endorsement of Romney. He ended up just looking politically un-savvy and unprincipled. There is little to be gained either, from playing ball with a Party that as inept as the GOP at this point.

It’s not beyond the realm of possibility that the GOP may actually show sign of disintegration in the next several years. The GOP has ceased to present any sort of actual alternative, and worse yet, it can’t run a winning candidate. Once that happens, the coalition that makes up your political party will begin to fall apart.

The Ron Paul movement is a big winner here. The GOP told the libertarians in the party to get lost, and the GOP paid for it. Interestingly, both Iowa and Nevada, where Ron Paul supporters gained control of the state party, both went to Obama after the Romney campaign actively fought to disenfranchise Ron Paul supporters. I guess the GOP got what it wanted there. (CONTINUE READING)

It Is Time For The Ron Paul Revolution To Move Beyond Politics

Brandon Smith
Alt Market
Aug 31, 2012

In the lead up weekend to the RNC convention, Tampa, Florida was awash in political electricity.  It was so prevalent you could sense it in the corridors of air terminals across the country before you ever made it to that hot humid peninsula in the south.  I admit, to be caught up in it is exciting.  The ideal of democratic participation, the feeling of rejuvenation and community, joining the ranks of one’s ideological brethren to charge into intellectual combat for the future of our nation.  If any of it was real, I would have been truly inspired.  Unfortunately, I was well aware that the Republican convention was a farce, and knew full well what the end result would be for the Ron Paul campaign.

I had the privilege of being invited by the organizers of Paulfest, a Liberty Movement Woodstock of sorts, to give a speech on alternative economics and solutions to the general crisis we face as a country in the near future.  On the long flight I found myself surrounded by GOP fanboys and even a Secret Service agent, as well as the endless FOX and CNN cavalcade reports on terminal TV’s during layovers.  If you were in the middle of it, you would think something “important” was about to happen.  If anything, it only clarified my concerns that there is still far too much that needs to be accomplished before the year of 2012 is over.

Arrival at Paulfest revealed immediate conflicts between the Ron Paul campaign and its base support.  Certain Ron Paul staff (namely the infamous Jesse Benton) had been going out of their way to stiff and in some cases sabotage the event despite Ron Paul’s words of appreciation to those involved.  Benton has had a long track record of venom against Ron Paul’s base supporters, which he referred to as “big fringe elements” in texts to potential speakers including Peter Schiff, to persuade them from partaking in the event:

Benton has on numerous occasions kicked out alternative news journalists from Ron Paul events in a move to sterilize the press box. When the RNC deliberately buried states with large Ron Paul delegate counts in the bleachers at the back of the building where television cameras would not notice them, complaints to the GOP and the campaign abounded, and an audit of the RNC was even called for.  Yet, Benton responded snidely, saying:
“I am glad so many of our delegates get to sit close together.”

It has become clear that Benton and others have been “handling” Ron Paul for a considerable portion of his campaign and attempting to divorce him from the elements of the movement which are seen as “extreme” or anti-establishment, even though these are the same elements that catapulted Ron Paul into the minds of average Americans.  My impression is that they have been targeted for surgical removal because they are impossible to co-opt for the purposes of diplomacy (submission) with the Neo-Con elites running the GOP carnival.

Rand Paul’s recent endorsement of Mitt Romney is not surprising given the parasitic nature of particular campaign organizers who buzz about him, including Benton.  The bottom line is that some people in the movement are not in it to fight for freedom, or to ensure a brighter and more Constitutional Republic.  Some are in the movement to further their political careers and ambitions, and are perfectly willing to use the energy of popular candidates to carry them to success.

Sadly, this is the ultimate weakness of the political ideal; regardless of how honest and forthright a candidate is, even a principled luminary like Ron Paul can be undermined by those closest to him if he is not careful.  Millions of people relying solely on the tenuous chance of victory of a single man in a single rigged contest is NEVER a recipe for liberty.

The internal conflict was a source of tension and depression for many who only wanted to see unity within the movement, a final hurrah for Ron Paul, and a last drive towards a respectable showing at the RNC.  The problem is that for some reason there was an expectation among some Paul revolutionaries that there would be a semblance of “fairness”.  I’m not sure why considering that after four years and two presidential campaigns there has never been a single moment of fair-play in the GOP towards Ron Paul or the Liberty Movement in general.  We have been the targets of mass media attacks, Republican con-games, and even DHS profiling.  How anyone could think that Ron Paul was going to win by playing a game in which the rules are written and re-written (literally, as we saw with the GOP state delegate selection process changes) by the corrupt system is beyond me.

Ron Paul Wins Iowa Delegate Majority

by
thenewamerican.com
Sunday, 17 June 2012

Texas Republican Congressman Ron Paul emerged from the Iowa state convention with a clear majority of the delegates being sent by the state to the GOP national convention in Tampa in August. Paul won 21 of the 25 contestable delegates, and will have 23 of the 28 total delegates Iowa will send to Tampa.

The Iowa victory marks the third and final time Iowa has had a “winner” of its first-in-the-nation caucus. Mitt Romney had narrowly “won” the January caucus in a first, unofficial count. But that victory was reversed on a recount later that month that gave Rick Santorum the victory by a razor-thin margin of 34 votes. Paul had placed a close third in the caucus vote tallies, but the delegates to the national convention are selected by a state convention and are not bound to the results of the caucus poll. Paul forces continued to organize in the county and state caucuses that followed, and pulled off an overwhelming victory with the June 15-16 state caucus.

“This ends a process that began with the Iowa Cavalcade last summer,” Paul campaign aide Doug Wead boasted on his blog, “when Ron Paul came within a few votes of winning the Straw Vote, and handily defeated Romney, Santorum, Perry, Gingrich and Pawlenty. Dr. Paul’s strong showing was virtually ignored by the main stream media whose executives apparently felt threatened by his call for transparency in the actions of the Federal Reserve, a prime support system for their corporate advertisers and, in some cases, their own parent holding companies.”

Mainstream media websites have continued to project Ron Paul as winning only one delegate in Iowa, and it has become the source of amusement to Paul forces. Wead sarcastically called it a “marvelous fiction” that the New York Times and the Associated Press are still claiming in on-line charts that Ron Paul had won only a single delegate to the national convention from Iowa. The New York Times is also claiming that Paul won no delegates from Louisiana, though Paul won a majority of delegates from the Pelican State.

The Los Angeles Times noted of the Paul campaign, “By working arcane electoral rules and getting supporters into positions of power in local, county and state party operations, the strategy is paying dividends across the nation.” Despite losing the popular vote in every state (winning the popular vote only the Virgin Islands caucus), Paul forces have pulled away with a majority of delegates in many states. Paul forces have organized to take over a number of state Republican parties and were even able to win a large number of delegates from Romney's home state of Massachusetts (though these Massachusetts delegates will be nominally pledged to vote for Romney). Is Rand Paul plotting to insert himself as a double agent?

Linguistic analysis of Rand Paul’s endorsement of Romney contradicts his words: Rand Paul is disgusted with him!

Mike Adams
Natural News
Sunday, June 10, 2012

In the aftermath of the shock and the overwhelming feeling of betrayal following Sen. Rand Paul’s endorsement of Mitt Romney for president, most people are trying to understand WHY it happened. But to my knowledge no one has yet analyzed the linguistics, the intonation and the micro-expressions that Rand Paul delivered as part of his announcement, because they may provide even more information than his words.

Here, I offer a brief linguistic and micro-expressions analysis of Rand Paul’s delivery of his announcement. What you’ll see here is that even Rand Paul is disgusted with his own endorsement.
Watch his announcement here:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3c5odNzKVb
Linguistics and intonation
If you watch Rand Paul deliver his announcement, pay particular attention to the part where he says:
But you know, now that the nominating process is over, tonight I’m uh happy to announce that I’m gonna be supporting Governor Romney.

During this entire sentence, his voice and intonation stay relatively high, in the “optimistic” range, including as he’s talking about his father. But the minute he utters the words “Governor Romney,” two things happen:
• The pitch of his voice drops sharply.
• The strength of his voice tapers off, almost as if the last part of “Romney” has no power behind it. (CONTINUE READING)

Oklahoma Delegates for Ron Paul Fight To Be Counted And Win

WorldUnderControl.com
March 4, 2012

In Oklahoma there was a problem with the registration of delegates which meant that many Ron Paul delegates were rejected when they reached the GOP convention

Despite everyone turning up with a voter registration card, the officials claimed they couldn’t verify that they were registered to vote.

After taking a ballot from all delegates, the majority voted for the delegates to be added to be accepted.

The video below shows what happened and how the Ron Paul supporters had to fight for their right to be a delegate.

As great as caucuses and primaries may be for entertainment, the real winning votes are from delegates and Ron Paul expressed that he feels confident with the amount he is getting.

If you are able to be a delegate then please do so and help make a real difference by visiting http://www.ronpaul2012.com/delegate/.

Maine Caucuses: Counties Ron Paul Won Were Ignored, Omitted From Final Count

More evidence emerges of vote fraud to prevent Ron Paul winning

Steve Watson
Infowars.com
February 16, 2012

Yet more evidence of possible vote fraud has been uncovered in Maine, where several towns and counties did caucus but were omitted from the final state count for no identifiable reason.

As we previously reported, much to the ire of the Ron Paul campaign, Washington County – where Ron Paul was incredibly strong – had its caucus delayed by a week due to a warning of snow that never materialized.

In addition, some other towns had scheduled their caucuses differently to the rest of the State and will vote in the days and weeks to come.

Despite these facts, and despite Mitt Romney’s lead being just 194 votes after 84 percent of the voting had taken place, GOP representatives in Maine and the mainstream media declared that Romney was the outright winner, much to the disbelief of many onlookers, especially Ron Paul supporters.

Now it has emerged that Romney’s “victory” in Maine is even more in doubt.

Local reporters in Maine have pounced on the revelations that the vote for most Waldo County towns was entered as “0”, as if no one had turned out to vote. (CONTINUE READING)

Ron Paul Is Secretly Taking Over The GOP — And It's Driving People Insane

Grace Wyle

Thursday, February 16, 2012

By now, it is clear that the Maine caucuses were a complete mess. Evidence is mounting that Mitt Romney’s 194-vote victory over Ron Paul was prematurely announced, if not totally wrong. Washington County canceled their caucus on Saturday on account of three inches of snow (hardly a blizzard by Maine standards), and other towns that scheduled their caucuses for this week have been left out of the vote count. Now, it looks like caucuses that did take place before Feb. 11 have also been left out of final tally.

As the full extent of the chaos unfolds, sources close to the Paul campaign tell Business Insider that it is looking increasingly like Romney’s team might have a hand in denying Paul votes, noting that Romney has some admirably ruthless operatives on his side and a powerful incentive to avoid a fifth caucus loss this month.

According to the Paul campaign, the Maine Republican Party is severely under-reporting Paul’s results — and Romney isn’t getting the same treatment. For example, nearly all the towns in Waldo County — a Ron Paul stronghold – held their caucuses on Feb. 4, but the state GOP reported no results for those towns. In Waterville, a college town in Central Maine, results were reported but not included in the party vote count. Paul beat Romney 21-5 there, according to the Kennebec County GOP.  (CONTINUE READING)

RAW Footage: Romney Supporter Admits Being Paid to Support Romney

“Fake Support: Romney Campaign Pays People to Support Candidate.”

Which pill do you choose? The red pill? Or the blue pill? The color blue on the shirts of South Florida Romney “supporters” may correlate with the pill they chose to take, as was evident with one individual who, on camera, stated he was paid to wear the Romney shirt and create the impression at the voting location that there was significant support there.

This is exactly why libertarians and Ron Paul supporters are so quick to decry the media, the GOP, and the elitist establishment. This is only another smidgen of truth that proves the way in which the masses are massively deceived through media manipulation, psy-ops, and other sly tactics.(CONTINUE READING AT THE DAILY PAUL)

Elections…We Get What They Pay For

Noel Brinkerhoff
All Gov

January 19, 2012

The race for the Republican presidential nominee has been dominated so far, in terms of money, by the super PAC—political action committees established by wealthy individuals trying to influence who wins the GOP nomination.

Front-runner Mitt Romney has benefited from several super PACs, including one using $1 million from hedge-fund magnate John Paulson, and another involving the Marriott brothers (yes, the hotel chain) who also gave $1 million.

If Romney becomes the Republican challenger to President Barack Obama, and wins in November, it’s safe to say that Obama’s financial reforms for Wall Street, limited though they may be, will be in danger of being overturned, since Paulson is big on getting rid of them.

The Marriott brothers, meanwhile, would expect for their help getting Romney into the Oval Office “favorable tax and immigration policies through their hotel companies,” according to The Washington Post.
Not all of the super PACs are in Romney’s corner. Casino owner Sheldon Adelson has spent at least $5 million on a group supporting Newt Gingrich. Adelson’s priorities include helping Israel and making life easier for the gambling industry.

Another big-money player has been Our Destiny PAC, which was helping Jon Huntsman. With the former Utah governor out of the race, it is unclear what Our Destiny plans to do with its money.

“There are probably fewer than 100 people who are fueling 90 percent of this outside money right now,” David Donnelly, national campaigns director at the Public Campaign Action Fund, an advocacy group favoring limits on political spending, told The Washington Post. “When you think about the amazing impact that this small number of people have on deciding the election, on the information that people will have on who to vote for, it’s mind-boggling.” (CONTINUE READING)

Ron Paul Invokes Golden Rule Only To Get Booed By South Carolina Debate Audience

The Fox Debate – The Horror The Horror

giavellireport.com

It began slowly like growing clouds. Hisses. Snakes. Vipers. Well coiffed interlocutors marching in. The dying Wall Street Journal looking puffed up and important. the Jingoist fraud journalism of Fox News like a puffer fish but with greasy hair seemingly important. The wall street journal? An old bitter man with a scruffy beard.
The debate began as all debates do, with Ron Paul sent to the back of the class, off in the corner, and Romney front and center. It didn’t matter that Perry had just seven percent of the vote or that Paul was trouncing Santorum. no the Back corner was where they put second place Paul. And its where they put him in air time as well waiting a full 23 minutes before a question went his way.

There were the usual character questions. But if you watch carefully you noticed that the key economic questions the questions with substance… they were going to gingrich and romney while Ron Paul got hit with sideways zingers as always. At one point… after Romney got booed for his support of the NDAA – the bill now law which ushered in a age of tyranny in america by allowing the government to put a bag over your head and carry you off without a trial – Paul had to insist on jumping in. You see to not do so would be to decry freedom. To not give his last breath of energy against these power hungry monsters.

But slowly but surely the planned rigged game worked its magic. Giving Gingrich space and time to go over his economic thoughts led to cheers. Paul insisting on the golden rule as a guiding principle for how to treat other countries resulted in boos. Is this a plant I thought? Are these christians really booing the golden rule? That’s pretty incredible. I mean that’s a lot of venom against something we’ve been taught since 3rd grade.

Then they came to the twitter results which show how a candidate answered or dodged a question. They showed Romney’s chart. They showed Gingrich. They showed Santorum. And…. no. NO! They didn’t show RON PAUL! THEY REALLY DIDN’T. RIGHT THERE ON NATIONAL TV THEY WERE PULLING ANOTHER STUNT IN FRONT OF EVERYONE.  (CONTINUE READING)

Paul Urges Supporters To Donate In Immediate ‘South Carolina Money Bomb’

“Every dollar is absolutely critical”

Steve Watson
Infowars.com
January 11, 2012 Ron Paul

On the back of his powerful second place win in New Hampshire, Ron Paul has urged his supporters to switch to a higher gear in order that the campaign can continue the momentum into South Carolina where the next primary takes place in ten days’ time.

In an urgent email shot, Paul told supporters “I’m going to try my best to spend a few hours relishing this great finish. But the truth is, I’m already thinking about South Carolina, Florida, and beyond.”

Adding that he was in the race for the long haul and was ready to fight, Paul noted that more funds for campaigning in South Carolina were needed immediately.

“I’m headed there tomorrow to begin a feverish round of campaigning. But I need to be able to pay for it all.” Paul stated.

“Unlike my opponents, I don’t have Wall Street banksters lining up to write fat checks to my campaign. I’m grateful I’ve been able to count on the generosity of good folks like you.” the email continued
.
Paul urged supporters to begin donating immediately to a ‘South Carolina Money Bomb’, with the culmination of the fundraising effort set for this Saturday, January 14

. “My staff is already busy implementing an ambitious plan for South Carolina, including hard-hitting voter mail and TV ads.” Paul wrote.

“…your support has never been more important. Every dollar you can give is absolutely critical. So please be as generous as you can!” Paul added.

In a separate statement, Paul Campaign Manager John Tate echoed the Congressman’s appeal. “Dedicated staff and volunteers in South Carolina have been working around the clock for victory, but they’ll need all the reinforcement we can give them in these final days before voters head to the polls.” Tate commented.

Ron Paul is currently polling fourth in South Carolina with around 12 percent. Both Gingrich and Santorum are marginally ahead with around 18 percent. Romney is leading at 37 percent. Paul needs to eat into his rivals’ numbers in order to secure a top three finish and continue the momentum from Iowa and New Hampshire.

There is no doubt that Paul will see his numbers improve in the Palmetto State on the back of such a strong finish in New Hampshire, but the campaign needs the funding to enable Paul to break through that barrier over the next week.

We urge our readers to pledge as much as they can afford to Paul’s emergency money bomb. Click here to donate to the Money Bomb now.

Iowa Outcome Ideal for Ron Paul

Greg Buls
Infowars.com
January 4, 2012

The outcome in Iowa has Ron Paul solidly established and in an ideal position to move forward with confidence. If you’re watching the race at all, you’ve noticed that the GOP establishment has brought out the long knives, with Gingrich calling Paul’s supporters ‘indecent’, and Santorum saying that Paul is ‘disgusting‘. Virtually every ‘news’ story referencing Paul includes a declaratory statement that Paul cannot be nominated, or ‘almost certainly’ cannot. TV talking heads such as Politico’s Roger Simon were at least honest about the shared intent of the media and the GOP establishment: ‘If Paul wins Iowa we’ll just take it out (of the picture)’. Iowa’s own governor downplayed the importance of his state’s caucus outcome, should Paul win – something no other governor has done in American history.

In spite of the relentless assault against him, Paul’s support held up well, with a result mirroring most of the polls leading up to the caucuses. His supporters can’t possibly be discouraged – Paul’s support grew steadily over the months, and he finished near his peak. Santorum’s turn as ‘flavor of the week’, coming right after voters got another look at Newt Gingrich, came at the perfect time, further fracturing the establishment vote.
The Iowa results boost Paul’s chances for long-term success for a number of reasons.

- A lot of the negative attention that was aimed at Paul will now be focused on Santorum. The media may give Arlen Specter’s most important political ally a break, for now, but his opponents won’t. To the media, Santorum is a perfect GOP candidate – one they can easily trash when the time comes. His current appeal is a mile wide and a millimeter deep; there’s nothing of substance driving it – no scheme like Cain’s ’9-9-9 plan’, no great legislative achievements, nothing aside from the perception that he’d be ‘tough on terror’, that he speaks in earnest, and that he’s not Gingrich or Romney. As long as Santorum is in it, Romney and Gingrich will remain in, they likely think that Santorum’s chances to actually secure the nomination are nil.
- Romney’s finish makes any ‘inevitability’ talk look ridiculous. He seems to have a ceiling of 25%-30% of GOP primary voters, with no noticeable crossover enthusiasm from democrats, and little appeal to independents. The undecided voters will continue to ping-pong between the other candidates, with some sticking to Paul with each bounce. It seems that no matter what Romney says, does, or spends, he can’t gain any broader traction. He isn’t trusted by most republicans, for far better reasons than the GOP establishment posits for opposing Paul. There’s little prospect that Romney can change that fact, but he’s still going to grind it out.(CONTINUE READING)

Will the real Tea Party please stand up

Steve Watson
Infowars.com
December 16, 2011

The Ron Paul 2012 campaign is throwing itself behind a grass roots organized fundraising drive today, encouraging supporters to donate to reach a total of $4 million in one day.
On this day exactly four years ago, Paul set a new all time record for fundraising by drawing more than $6.4
million in a 24 hour period.

Owing to the banker induced financial implosion, the campaign does not realistically expect to break that record this time around, yet it is still aiming high.
The 2007 “money bomb” was held to mark the anniversary of the Boston Tea Party in 1773, and has widely been acknowledged as the inception of what was to become more popularly known as the Tea Party movement.

The Paul campaign distributed an email last night calling for supporters to embrace and spread the word regarding today’s Tea Party money bomb. The campaign says it will use the funds to pay for further ad buys and a last big promotional push before the Iowa caucus on January 3 and the New Hampshire primary on January 10. (CONTINUE READING)

Ron Paul Revolution Enters Crucial Countdown To Iowa

December 16 money bomb set to be biggest ever

Paul Joseph Watson
Infowars.com
Thursday, December 8, 2011

With Ron Paul now firmly established as a top tier candidate just weeks away from the crucial caucuses in Iowa and New Hampshire, the Paul campaign is set to launch what could turn out to be the biggest ever single day online money bomb in the history of U.S. politics.

Back in 2007, Ron Paul supporters made history by raising $6 million in online contributions in a single 24 hour period, beating the single day record for a national candidate.
That total could easily be topped on December 16th, when the Paul campaign launches its ‘Tea Party Money Bomb’ as part of a final mail, radio, and TV ad push in Iowa.
However, Congressman Paul has urged his supporters to donate as soon as possible so as to fund ad buys in Iowa. Paul’s TV ads have been devastating to his Republican rivals thus far, with the latest being targeted against Newt Gingrich’s “serial hypocrisy”.
The crucial Iowa caucus takes place on January 3rd with New Hampshire following a week later on January 10th.

“We need to do well in Iowa and New Hampshire, because it’s very important for perception,” Ron Paul 2012 National Campaign Chairman Jesse Benton said to POLITICO after the Michigan debate. “It’s also important because the voters in those states are very adept and astute at evaluating candidates, so we need to be in the top three in those states, no question about it,” Mr. Benton added.

“If you were holding off on contributing until the Money Bomb later this month, I must ask you to please contribute today at least half of whatever you were planning to give on the 16th,” Mr. Paul said in a campaign email. (CONTINUE READING)

Ron Paul Gets 89 Seconds To Speak In CBS Debate

Ron Paul Silenced by CBS

Marc Fortier
Exeter
November 13, 2011

Both Ron Paul and Michele Bachmann are crying foul after what they said were unfair efforts to limit their air time during CBS’ Republican presidential debate on Saturday night.
In an email sent out after the debate entitled “What a Joke,” the Paul campaign ripped CBS for allowing the Texas Congressman only a minute and a half of air time in the 90 minute debate.
“It literally made me sick watching the mainstream media once again silence the one sane voice in this election,” said Campaign Manager John Tate. “The one dissenter to a decade of unchecked war. The one candidate who stands for true defense and actual constitutional government. Ron Paul was silenced, in perhaps the most important debate of the cycle.”

Study Confirms Ron Paul Blacked Out by Media

Written by Raven Clabough

Tuesday, 18 October 2011 15:17

It has oft been a bone of contention by Ron Paul supporters nationwide that he has been either ignored or misrepresented by the mainstream media. Liberal comedian Jon Stewart devoted an entire montage to humorously and satirically underscoring the media’s deliberate — and at times blatant — efforts to ignore Paul’s top-tier status. Now a recent study by the highly respected Pew Research Center proves that Paul has indeed been blacked out by the mainstream media.

Journalism.org explains that the study “combines traditional media research methods with computer algorithms to track the level and tone of coverage of candidates for president.”
Pew compiled a list of 52 mainstream news sources, ranging from newspapers to television, and discovered that Paul has received significantly less media coverage than all of the other candidates — including Tim Pawlenty, who dropped out of the race as a result of his lack of adequate progress, and Jon Huntsman, who has one of the lowest approval ratings of all the GOP presidential contenders.
The Atlantic Wire reports:
Ron Paul loyalists have been vindicated. After months of observations that the mainstream media was ignoring the libertarian standard-bearer, a new study by the Pew Research Center’s Project for Excellence in Journalism shows just that: the Texas Congressman, who has consistently polled in the high single digits — Real Clear Politics’s aggregate poll currently has him at 8 percent — has received the least overall coverage of any candidate. From May 2 to October 9, Paul appeared as the “primary newsmaker" in only 2% of all election stories.
The Washington Post notes, “Paul’s support has been stable at 10 percent or 11 percent of Republican and GOP-leaning independents in the three most recent Washington Post-ABC News polls.” In polls where Paul is placed against Obama, both candidates are in a dead tie, with approximately 15 percent of Americans undecided. His supporters note that if Paul were afforded more opportunity in the mainstream media to voice his ideas, he could effectively increase his support in such a runoff. (CONTINUE READING)

Paul Trumps the Establishment, Again

One was like a carnival, the other like a morgue – speaking of the stark contrast in room atmospheres for the speeches of presidential candidates Ron Paul and Mitt Romney, respectively. Both were making their cases before the reconvened Values Voter Summit on Saturday morning, where five of their Republican competitors had addressed the conference yesterday.

Paul draws enthusiastic supporters wherever he goes, so it was no surprise to see the room packed with followers ready to give him (and his remarks) a warm reception. What was somewhat of a shock was to see the reaction to Romney, a man who’d won the Summit’s straw poll in 2007 (granted, many of his votes were online, causing many to question the result’s validity) – but now is the consensus establishment candidate in the Republican race. Seeing Romney talk was borderline painful – not for what he said, necessarily, which was standard boilerplate political speak – but for the pathetic reception his remarks received. I almost felt sorry for him as he tossed out what were supposed to be applause lines only to be met with barely audible polite claps and precious few cheers.

There weren’t any catcalls, but then again, maybe people were just being nice.

Paul on the other hand, could barely keep his supporters from speaking up, being interrupted numerous times and reeling off his ideas without even the slightest need to be “loved” at any point in time. Paul’s persona often gravitates between the image of a kind grandfatherly figure and the “crazy old uncle,” but today, it was all smiles and goodwill.

Grandpa was in attendance today, for sure.

The balance of the program included a rather monotone presentation by former Reagan Secretary of Education Bill Bennett, a stern lecture by Bryan Fischer (Director of the American Family Association) on the requirements for a presidential candidate, a somewhat sleepy panel discussion on gay “marriage,” and a captivating speech by retired Lt. Gen. William Boykin (perhaps most famous as the Delta Force commander in the Blackhawk Down incident).

Ron Paul – No longer the kook that everyone tolerates

It’s safe to say that Ron Paul would not normally be thought of as a “Values Voter” kind of candidate – after all, his firm belief in federalism would not prohibit either abortion or homosexual marriage at the federal level, and his objection to the killings of Osama bin Laden and Anwar al-Awlaki (on constitutional grounds) would not win him many friends in this gathering of social conservatives with strong neoconservative leanings.

Nevertheless, Paul’s introduction was greeted with wild enthusiasm, leading this observer to wonder whether he might compete for the Summit’s presidential straw poll title.

Herman Cain was probably the only other candidate who came close to generating this type of crowd reaction, and that’s due in part to Cain’s dynamic personality and speaking style. Ron Paul possesses only a smidgen of Cain’s oratorical ability, yet still gets his people really animated.

If anything, Paul talks way too fast, and still has a tendency to lapse into technical language that’s hard for people to understand.

To his credit, Paul began his talk with a discussion of Biblical values, specifically citing 1st Samuel, Chapter 8, with its reference to a ‘king’ as caretaker. Paul said “Samuel advised the people of Israel not to accept the king, because he would not be generous. And their true king was God.”

We all knew Paul was a religious man, despite his hesitancy to discuss his beliefs on the campaign trail. The Values Voters got a good dose of his thoughts on Saturday, however. “We’ve too often relied on our ‘king’ in Washington, and we need to change that,” Paul said to more wild applause.

“The law can never change the morality of the people, and that is very important to remember… Do laws take care of these things, or do we need a better understanding of our Christian principles?” Paul pondered.

Paul also drew Biblical references to his non-interventionist foreign policy beliefs, again with them being warmly received. “Blessed are the peacemakers, and they shall be the children of God. Christ never said ‘blessed are the war makers.’”

Though it’s not likely that Paul’s views, no matter how tightly packaged, would find wide acceptance in many circles of the conservative movement, when you listen to his in-depth explanations of why he believes what he believes, he makes a lot more sense.

Paul concluded with his thoughts on the basic role of government: “We’ve accepted this notion that the king will take care of us. But our government should be strictly limited to protecting our liberties that allow us to thrive.”

With that, Paul concluded his remarks a few minutes before his allotted time expired – when you know what you know, it doesn’t take a long time to explain it. And Paul certainly knows what he knows, a man who’s comfortable with it and doesn’t seem phased that he’s still regarded as an oddity by the GOP establishment. (CONTINUE READING)

Why Ron Paul's Presidency Could Save America

Ron Paul's Proposals Are Exactly What America Needs to Prevent Downfall

COMMENTARY | A recent article in The Huffington Post outlines 11 ideas that Ron Paul would carry out if elected president. Ron Paul's ideas are all sensible and very beneficial for this country. Much of his ideas are common sense, like bringing our troops home and save trillions of dollars as a result. Fighting multiple wars is not essential; rather, they are impairing our economy.
Fact: Ron Paul received the most military donations of anyone, even more than Obama, because the troops agree with Paul. The Federal Reserve, Paul believes, is not helping at all -- many people, including some of the candidates, are beginning to support his idea of auditing the Fed (and idea he's been preaching for decades). Common sense, by the way, is a major reason why Paul is so popular to the people. Everyone is sick of false politicians, and so Paul is just what the people want.

In a recent video interview, Paul mentions how he can balance the budget in one year. Currently, the divided Congress couldn't balance the budget, as we learned back in July when default was imminent. Basically, if Paul is going to be president, then common-sense Constitutionalism will be used to fix the major mess our idea of prosperity has created. He is turning to word of our founders to help us. This video is the source for many facts in the this article, even though facts about Paul were picked up from numerous places. That is because Paul is consistent, which is another reason why many people want him in office.(CONTINUE READING)
